In two separate studies into sedentary activity, Spanish experts discovered that individuals who read magazines and newspapers and were ‘mentally active’ were associated with doing more dynamic physical activity when they do exercise. In the review among 4,271 adults, the researchers discovered those who spent more of their down-time in ‘passive sedentary mode’ – watching TV – were associated with considerably higher odds of being overweight and having poorer physical health.
