Suffering from stiff joints? Fish oil is out, try taking krill oil.
What is krill oil?
Krill oil is an omega-3 supplement produced from small marine crustaceans and has become one of the fastest selling supplements all over the world. In fact, it’s estimated that the krill oil industry is worth a whopping £51.8m.
Studies showed that the omega- 3 fatty acids, EPA and DHA, from krill, are easier to absorb than those present in fish oil. Krill oil also includes astaxanthin, a natural antioxidant which protects the shrimp-like swimmers from damage.
How does it work?
Krill oil features all of the health-giving benefits of fish oil, including improved brain function, cardiovascular health and eye health; it also boasts anti-inflammatory properties that speed up post-exercise recovery.
Krill oil has been discovered to relieve the pain and stiffness of osteoarthritis and rheumatoid. Its natural anti-inflammatory action also benefits runners because it reduces free-radical activity in your body.
How to take it?
Like fish oil, krill oil is available in a capsule form. Consume the maximum dose directed on the pack. In times of intense training, you might need to increase this but seek professional advice first.
