Mountain bikers can thank the Commonwealth Games for the establishment of a fabulous new trail centre called Cathkin Braes Country Park in Glasgow.
Cathkin Braes Country Park in the south of the city is open to the general public to test their skills, fitness and nerve on the 5.6km course. Get set to deal with twisting downhill drops, long sheer climbs and rocky paths as the adrenaline flows on the figure-of-eight course.
It’s already hosted the British National Championships, the Scottish Championship and now the Commonwealth Games, so your wheels are following in the tread patterns of some of the world’s best off-road riders.
The Country Park covers 199 hectares (493 acres) and on a clear day the views extend to Ben Lomond to the north and Goatfell on Arran to the west.
