In comparison to men, overweight women have a slightly higher chance of reaching a healthy body weight.
Nevertheless, the odds aren’t good for either sex. According to a British study, overweight men have only a 1 in 210 chance of reaching an optimal body weight, while overweight women have a 1 in 124 chance.
The experts that carried out the study claimed that existing exercise and diet strategies aren’t working for overweight people. The conclusions were based on health records of 279,000 people. The subjects that did lose weight were likely to put it back on, with 53% of subjects who had reached an optimal body weight gaining it back within a year.
