Top UK Trail Runs: Lakeland 50/100

Lakeland 50/100, Cumbria

When? July 2015

It’s the most amazing long distance trail race which has ever been held in the UK. This is the country’s toughest 100-miler, which sells out in just few hours.

The circular trail includes the whole of the Lakeland fells, with 6,300m of ascent. The climb, descent, rugged terrain, darkness and tricky navigation usually guarantee a 50-60% failure rate. The 50-mile version is just half the route, so it must be half as tough, right? That’s the first and worst error you can possibly make.
