Man vs Horse Marathon, Powys
When? 13th June 2015
Who says that Brits are eccentric? The Man vs Horse Marathon started where all the best things do, in a pub. In 1980 the Neuadd Arms Hotel landlord heard two men discussing the relative merits of men and horses running over mountainous terrain and decided to test the idea.
The current course is 23.6 miles long, and it took 25 years before a man finally beat a horse. This has happened only twice. There’s a £500 rolling jackpot for anybody else who does, so in 2015 there’s a £1,000 prize.
