Top UK Trail Runs: Three Peaks Race

Three Peaks Race

Three Peaks Race, North Yorkshire

When? April 2016

Regarded as “the marathon with mountains” due to its 5,270ft of ascent, this race might be the most prestigious event in the fell running calendar.

First held in 1954, there are 23 punishing (and often very boggy) but spectacular miles to run as it climbs and cascades over the summits of Pen-y-ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough. Andy Peace’s record of 2:46:03 has stood for 19 years.
