Top UK Trail Runs: Welsh 1,000m Peaks Race

Welsh 1,000m Peaks Race

Welsh 1,000m Peaks Race, Gwynedd

When? June 2016

The race starts at Abergwyngregyn on the north Wales coast. The 21-mile route visits the country’s five highest summits, the only ones taller than 1,000 metres; Carnedd Llewelyn, Carnedd Dafydd, Glyder Fawr, Crib Y Ddysgl, and finishes at the top of Snowdon.

It’s a grueling event, even in nice weather conditions. It’s considered to be a test of fitness, endurance and orienteering skills across wild and remote terrain. Anyone who has done it, can’t disagree.
