The organizers boldly claim that Etape Cymru is the toughest closed-road (no traffic) cycling test in the UK.
They are right. The 85-mile journey, which includes a King of the Mountains competition over the Horseshoe pass, is fun, with hilly terrain and amazing scenery that will stay with you for the rest of your life. Unless it’s wet, in which case the view will be of the fat guy in front whose backside has a line of mud up it.
Entry costs £62, but for the price you do get full mechanical support, a broom wagon, closed roads for the duration, and a medal.
This year’s event: 13th September 2015
