In 2015 outdoor fitness will become a BSc degree for the first time
The University of Wales launches a three-year course aimed at students who have ‘a passion for fitness and performance in outdoor sports activities such as running (road or trail), cycling (road and mountain), triathlon, adventure racing, hiking, and many others’.
With outdoor fitness as the fastest growing area of the fitness industry, the course will cover sports science, along with the skills required to plan and lead outdoor expeditions. Students will also qualify as a personal trainer with the Register of Exercise Professionals. The BSc Outdoor Fitness will be based in Carmarthen.
