Welsh Castles Relay race, Britains greatest

Welsh Castles Relay race

The Welsh Castles Relay race

June 2015

A two-day, 20-stage, 211-mile Welsh Castles Relay race mostly on road, but with several hills, mountains and bumpy parts on route is a big favourite in many running club calendars.

The race goes from Caernarfon to Cardiff with an overnight stay in Newtown. It has been organised since 1982 and is a team event (46 teams in 2014) with each team member running a 10-mile stage. However, individual stage winners do get valuable yellow castles sweatshirts and awards for achieving great things on the mountain stages.
