Top World Triathlons: Alpe d’Huez Triathlon

Alpe d'Huez Triathlon

Alpe d’Huez, France
Next event: 26-29 July 2016
Distances 2.2km swim, 115km bike, 22km run

If you mention Alpe d’Huez to professional cyclists, the’ll gaze into the abyss. If you mention it to triathletes, they’ll fall to the ground in fits of tears. The impressive Tour de France mountain is just one torturous layer in a debilitating sandwich that starts with a chilly swim in the beautiful, but extremely cold crystal-clear waters of Lac du Verney and ends with a 22km hilly run. As well as Alpe d’Huez, the bike also includes the Alpe du Grand Serre (1,375m) and the Col d’Ornon (1,371m) – just the thought of it is painful.

Would you prefer a slightly easier challenge?

Then decide for the short distance event: 1.2km swim, 30km cycle, 7km run.
