Norseman Triathlon

Hardangerfjord, Norway
Next event: 6 August 2016
Distances 3.8km swim, 180km bike, 42.2km run

Would you like jumping off a boat into Norwegian waters at 5am in the morning? Of course you would. Who wouldn’t be enticed by swimming through dark, icy waters in early, dark morning all within the menacing shadows of dark mountains?

Racers are shipped out on a ferry for the commencement of this great challenge, which only contributes to the tense aura. That feeling is intensified when the run comes, which ends with a 17.2km climb to the 1,850m mountain summit.

That’s if the race gets that far, in 2005 and 2007, cold temperatures and snow made it unsafe to run the final 4.7km.
