Freekeh is usually used in savory recipes but can be used in sweeter dishes too. Follow this recipe to prepare a warm and delicious freekeh breakfast.

Freekeh is a delicious and healthy choice for breakfast.


  • 1 cup of cracked freekeh
  • 1 ½ cups of water
  • 1 cup of almond milk
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon


Combine the freekeh, water and almond milk in a saucepan, bring to a boil for around 1 minute. Add the vanilla extract and cinnamon, reduce heat to low then cover and simmer for around 25 minutes. Serve in a bowl with a spoonful of natural yogurt and fresh, sliced fruit on top, and sprinkle with your favorite nuts or seeds!
