Halibut steaks with saffron rice and herb butter

Preparation time: cca. 20 minutes (plus cooking time)
Per portion: cca.  360 kcal / 1512 kJ

  • 1 onion
  • 1 tbsp butter
  • 200 g long grain rice
  • ¼ tsp ground saffron
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 4 halibut steaks (150 g each)
  • 2 tbsp lemon juice
  • 2 tbsp oil
  • salt
  • pepper
  • herb butter to serve


  1. Peel and chop the onion. Melt the butter in a pan and sauté the onion. Add the long grain rice, ground saffron, salt and 400 ml of water. Cook for cca. 20 minutes.
  2. Rinse and pat dry the halibut steaks and sprinkle over the lemon juice. Heat the oil in a pan and cook the fish for 4 minutes on both sides. Sprinkle with salt and pepper to taste. Serve with the saffron rice and herb butter.
